Preparation and Submission of Camera-Ready Papers (Oral Presentation)

Paper Formatting

Examples: PDF Version | ps Version

The paper heading should include the paper title and author names set across the full page width. The complete affiliations of the authors (with email addresses) should be set as symbol-tagged footnotes in the first column of the paper (In MS-Word, please use Endnote instead of footnote). Please adhere strictly to the 2-column 10-point font format in the body of the paper. The full paper must not exceed eight letter-sized pages in length. Pages should be without page numbers.

  • Top and bottom margin: 1inch (2.5cm)
  • Left and right margin: .75inch (2cm)
  • Space between columns: .3inch (8mm)

With these margins, the column width is approximately 3.3inches (8.4cm).

LaTeX2e users are encouraged to use the style file sis_conf.sty.

Creation of PDF file

Final paper submissions are accepted only in PDF. Please use Type 1 font in creating the PDF-file. Type 3 font (bit-mapped) is not acceptable (After running Latex, first try to use argument "-P pdf" in dvips).

All PDF papers must be compliant with IEEE publication specifications for inclusion in IEEE Xplore. Authors have three choices for ensuring compliance:

  • Register for, and use PDF eXpress - a free, online service that allows authors to either convert their documents into IEEE-compliant PDFs or to submit their own PDFs for compliance testing (Conference ID is sis05 - please read the instructions first).
  • Read the author specifications and comply with them.
  • Use the job options file to set Adobe Distiller to the correct requirements.
As of 2005, Papers cannot be published in the Proceedings without complying with IEEE PDF specifications.

IEEE Copyright Form Submission

All authors must submit an IEEE Copyright Form. Papers cannot be published in the Proceedings without an IEEE Copyright Form.

Please print the form (PDF, MS Word), fill it out, and send it to the symposium via one of the means below:
  • Fax: to +1 818 393-1717 (please include a separate cover sheet addressed to Payman Arabshahi), or
  • Mail:
    Payman Arabshahi
    Jet Propulsion Laboratory
    4800 Oak Grove Drive, 238-343
    Pasadena, CA 91109-8099 USA
  • Email: to sis at aria.jpl.nasa.gov - please use the MS Word copyright form above, and make sure to insert a scanned image of your signature in the file.
Please mail, fax, or email the form by May 2, 2005.

Please submit a PDF copy of the full paper electronically by May 2, 2005 via the paper submission page.

Preparation and Submission of Posters

For the posters, easels with an area of 4 x 6 feet (122cm wide x 183cm high, portrait orientation) will be provided. Push pins will be available.

Poster presenters should also submit a paper, in the same format described above, not exceeding four letter-sized pages in length.

Please submit a PDF copy of the full paper electronically by May 2, 2005, via the paper submission page.
